Overview

It has a mapped route of roughly 79 km.

Ownership: PT Pertamina Gas (parent company: PT Pertamina Gas Negara Tbk; PT Pertamina (Persero); small shareholder(s)).

Why it matters

Transmission pipelines move gas from production areas and LNG terminals to power plants, industry and city networks; their capacity and routing shape regional supply security.

How gas pipelines work

Gas transmission pipelines are large-diameter steel lines, typically 500–1,400 mm across, operated at high pressure. Compressor stations every 100–200 km keep the gas moving, and metering stations hand it over to distribution networks, power plants and industrial users.

Pipeline capacity is usually quoted in billion cubic metres per year (bcm/y). Cross-border pipelines are often central to energy diplomacy, because they lock producers and consumers into long-term relationships and determine which supply routes are available in a crisis.
